Indoor Easter Sensory Activities - Sensory Play
Easter is right around the corner and there is no shortage of activities for you and the kids to get up to over Easter break. So, if you're looking for some fun ways to incorporate sensory play into your easter activities this year, we've got a great selection for you to take a try at in the comfort of your own home!
- Easter Sensory Bottles
Sensory bottles are a great way to incorporate water into sensory play without things getting too messy, and they're so easy to make as well! Add water, glitter, sequins and some baby oil, as well as any type of easter bits and bobs you can think of! This could include little plastic chicks, mini foam eggs, little pom poms, or anything else you can think of, to make the perfect spring themed sensory bottle!
- Easter Sensory Tray
Sensory trays are great for allowing children to explore their senses in the comfort of their own home. If you don't have room to store a sensory bin, or if you want something a little less overwhelming, sensory trays are perfect for introducing new textures. Sensory trays usually consist of a large tray being filled with different items that consist of different textures and sounds, in order to introduce children to a variety of new sensory experiences at once. Just like sensory bins, you can easily make themed trays and switch them out with new items again and again.
- Easter Finger Painting
Finger painting is perfect for letting children get a hands on experience with sensory play whilst also expressing their creativity! Though it can get a little bit messy, there are endless possibilities for finger painting, and that includes Easter too! Try letting your child use pastels to match a spring colour palette and let them create some Easter pictures! If you find your child is struggling to create their own shapes, try drawing an egg shape for them to decorate with finger painting!
- Easter Egg Shakers
There seems to be endless possibilities when it comes to these plastic easter eggs! If you're looking for another fun activity to incorporate them into, try making some "shakers" by filling them with different materials! This could range from little bells, to pom poms, or even beads and buttons. Obviously these small materials are a choking hazard to younger children, so activities including these should always be supervised by an adult, but they make for great fun and are a fun way to introduce children to new sounds!
- Foam Sensory Bin
Our foam sensory bin idea is probably the messiest option, but also makes for great sensory fun! Start by filling a container with shaving foam, and even add some food colouring if you want to make it colourful! Then, add in plastic or wooden eggs to create a fun easter egg hunt that you can do indoors and by using a sensory bin! Feel free to add other items too, to make the hunt a little more challenging!
There is endless sensory fun to be had throughout Easter, so make sure to check out our other Easter activities blog if you're looking for more ideas! There's something for everyone when it comes to sensory play!
