OUR STORY

FROM KITCHEN-TOP TO TOY SHOP.

Slime Party UK began with a classic case of mum-help-us-make-slime. Ruby’s daughters were determined to create the perfect gooey masterpiece… but what actually happened was a sticky, glittery disaster that nearly ruined the kitchen. Rather than ban slime forever (tempting), Ruby decided to figure it out properly — and once she did, things got surprisingly fun.

After discovering how mesmerising slime could be (and how quiet the kids were when playing with it), Ruby hosted a slime workshop at the local village hall. She expected a few kids and a lot of mess — what she got was a room full of happy chaos, excited parents, and a lightbulb moment: this could be more than just a rainy-day activity.

From there, Slime Party UK was born. Ruby started running slime workshops and parties all over the UK — from muddy festival fields and back gardens to five-star hotels like The Berkeley and Bvlgari. Kids loved it. Parents loved it. Even the adults wanted a go.

When COVID hit and in-person parties had to stop, Ruby pivoted quickly — launching DIY slime kits and selling slime through her website. But she wasn’t done yet. She wanted to create something even better: a version of slime that didn’t melt into mush, travel well, and wasn’t quite so… explosive when mixed by little hands. That’s when Sensory Putty was born — smooth, satisfying, and less mess for everyone involved.

In January 2024, the Putty Pals collection launched — the same magical, squishable putty, but now with the cutest characters, a colourful bunch each with their own collectable charm. The response? Amazing. Today, Putty Pals is based from Ruby’s brand-new factory in Yorkshire and sold in hundreds of shops across the UK, Ireland, Europe, and even New York. And in 2025, they’re heading to Australia and New Zealand (sunhats not included).

What started as a kitchen experiment has grown into something no one expected — including Ruby. She’s now shared her story on podcasts, radio, and on stage, speaking about how she “accidentally” started a company, the realities of starting a business from nothing, manufacturing and export. She was even invited to Buckingham Palace for the Royal Garden Party — proving that even putty can be fit for royalty.

Well, this “accidental business” has come a long way — powered by imagination, an awesome team, and an unhealthy obsession with putty.

.And this is only the beginning!

Ruby lives in Yorkshire with her husband Paul, their four daughters, three cats, one dog and an unshakeable devotion to classic Coronation Street - specifically the golden years, 1960-1984 (don't even menton post-'85 episodes). When she's not juggling family life like a sitcom character with better hair, she's probably rewatching Ena Sharples give someone a proper telling off. Ruby: equal parts chaos coordinator and vintage soap opera connoisseur.
